howdy! i have a request. if anyone could find images or the actual popular 60s/70s craft item… the dry pasta covered victorian ankle boot! i kid you not. i remember seeing them when i was little. they put this pasta on these boots then spray painted them gold! does ANYONE know what i am talking about? help!
No matter what the event, the one on the right looks rather underdressed.
The one on the left is a disembodied decapitated spirit observing the banality of the lives of her erstwhile companions. (The band around her neck is covering up where the guillitine got her.)
And, Swan, I hope you find your pasta boots; I couldn’t find them via Google!
HI,
seeins hows i was a young gal waaaay back in the time of these patterns =) i have to say I realize they left room for all shapes and sizes of women- or a normal womens monthly variations in size-(notice long pants and shorts, a tight wast line and a big open smock dress) so why dont we have this in fashion today???
So glad i found your blog =)
Uhhh, I had a snappy comment but Swan’s request for a “dry pasta covered victorian ankle boot” has chased it completely out of my mind! Damn, I hope somebody finds it because I’m curious… Or horrified. I mean I’ve got quite a collection of bad craft mags but that one has me completely mystified.
But yeah, I do remember in the 70s that you used to have all kindsa choices in jeans–hip hugger, normal waist, hi-rise, different leg widths. And this was just from Sears.
Haven’t seen a pasta covered boot- but I do have a craft book at home that shows how to “Englebreit” an ice skate- painting all weird patterns like cherries, polka dots, etc to make a festive decoration out of a no longer needed ice skate.
The gal in the black pants is patting the buns of the girl in the striped dress, and the girl in the striped dress has a kink in her neck (from frolicing with gay abandon of course), scarf jaunitly tied to hide the hickey that the girl in the green dress gave her last night. The girl in the green dress is actually her twin sister, but they don’t know it because they were sold into sex slavery at birth and just last night ran into eachother during a levitation festiva. Hey this is turning me on….Take off that green dress quick…and get a chiropractor (female)to readjust those neks!!
I actually made that top from that pattern. for over 25 years I bocked the horror of that home-ec class from my mind and now it all comes back……..
uuggghhhhhh
Having one of those days and just broke out into uncontrolable laughter – Thank you!!!
“how ’bout the power of flight? That’s levitation, homes”
I wonder if they can kill a yak for 200 yards away…with mind force?

Wow, the overabundance of lip gloss and wedge sandals in that pic is enough to make me go blind.

I don’t have no pasta boots pattern but I got one for a coconut shell bra and pantie set.

hmm…coconut panties sound rather uninviting… I’ll bet those damned levitators would wear it…matching bra and everything…
